This month we’ve Partnered up with Imani Collective Artisan Group, who’s mission (and ours) is to empower women and create life-changing opportunities for artisans in Kenya. For your August box, they have created something so fun and fresh, (and One-of-kind exclusive design we collaborated on designing) we’re kind of freaking out (ok fine, not just kind of!)
So, let’s meet this month’s Giv box artisans, and see what they are creating from their home, to yours.
Meet Imani Collective:
"The artisan sector is the second largest employer in the developing world. Yet the majority of artisans are women who live in rural communities without access to the markets, skills, and tools they need to be successful. We are dedicated to changing that. Imani Collective works with artisan women and men to create a range of handcrafted products using local raw materials and techniques. Since 2013, we have provided artisans with on-the-job skills training, consistent wages, access to education, opportunities for personal + professional growth, a space to dream big, a supportive community and empowerment through it all. Sustainable socio-economic empowerment of the whole person is at the heart of Imani’s mission. We believe that women and their children hold the key to this social change. We know that when women rise in the economy, the whole country rises. So, we invest in generations of women because we have confidence in their ability to achieve (and exceed) their goals. We believe that women around the globe have the capacity, creativity, and determination to uplift themselves, their families, and their communities—all they need are the resources. We unleash a women’s greatness through empowerment, opportunity."

Vibrant, eclectic, and made from the hands of women empowered. The story woven into your colorful June box comes all the way from Colombia, with love!
Meet Luisa, who, alongside her daughter leads our talented artisan group here in Colombia. Women are the leading artisans within the tribes, creating a cultural legacy through their art of weaving these bright colors, and whimsical patterns together, passing the skill onto their daughters through generations.
Plus add some other Exclusives to your box for free shipping at the same time! Handmade in Colombia too!
Inside each box, you'll find the stunning, Handmade multi beaded bracelet, boho black beaded turq bracelet, and matching necklace, yes girl we said all three! Eachbox, and exclusive necklace, and earring is handmade by members of the Embera tribe, an indigenous community in Colombia. For them, weaving is not just a job, it is an art that carries the traditions that connect the indigenous with their ancestors.
The Embera people face challenges such as displacement, poverty, and violence but are determined to keep their values and methods intact and find work that honors the strength they carry against all odds.
In their own words
"We are a group of university and indigenous friends and family members of the Embera Eyábida and Embera Chamí ethnic groups of the municipalities of Tarazá, Jardín, Cáceres and San Lorenzo. We have come to the city of Medellín, some of us come with the opportunity to study, others hoping for work, and others under more sad circumstances, but all with the hope of a better future. "
With each purchase of the June Giv Box, you are directly giving the chance to these women, who come from so little and fight for so much, the opportunity to work and support their families, and carry on the momentum to their daughters, paving the way to a better future.
Our partnership is empowering these women to support themselves and their family independently without reliance or dependence on a male head of home, while gaining valuable business experience and learning opportunities. They are part of a new generation of Colombian females that aspire to work freely outside the home and regard employment and independence as a means of facilitating upward social mobility, talk about #GirlPower

How To Rock Pastels This Spring And Still Look Cool!!
Say hello to Pastels, baby! It's no surprise, pastels are back in trend, as they are sweet, soft, and easy on the eyes! We see so many beautiful lemon, mint, pale pink and dusty blue hues around.
If you are a beginner in the world of pastels, then I recommend you to stick to the basics at first and then upgrade your look by adding more shades and soft hues. Stick to these rules and you will be always look good in this fab trend.
1. Stick to minimalism. Yes, you should never overdo with pastel shades. Believe me, sometimes one color head-to-toe pastel look can be too much. But not for everyone....but if it's for you, try to keep things more basic and use one pastel colored garments in one outfit, mixed with a black, cream, grey solid classic color pallet to ease into things keeping things chic and your smile bright. Basically it's all about the ACCESSORIES or single hue in this look.
2. Step up the Fun. Wear two matching pastel colors and marry it with...yep you guessed it a classic hue. (examples of classic hues in #1) This helps bring in fun pastel pattern ect. Lastly, work in pops of fresh neutrals that break up the look, like the bright white sole of your sneakers, epic ’90s eyewear, and a Tshirt layer that makes it feel like you’re wearing this look (versus it wearing you).
3. Head to Toe. Confident and bright pastel outfit. Jumpsuit, dress, or two matching monochromatic colors...it won't matter because you wear it, you rock it all spring long.

Say Hello To This powerhouse. We were so blessed that our paths have crossed with this woman who is creating major impact in this world, and makes us want to stand up right along side with her. So we have partnered with Shelley Jean and her group of Artisans in Haiti for development on future projects and we can't wait to show you! But first, meet this power house we adore!
Hello Miss Power House
We asked Shelley some questions about her story and most important her passion for the mission she created.... and you know we love a great story here at the Giv Box!
Her baby was at her breast, but she pushed him away and handed him over. Poverty had finally won, and she was forced to leave her newborn son. He began to cry, and the orphanage director whisked him away before the mother had second thoughts. She hung her head and a tear dripped vertically onto the pavement below. One of the most defining parts of being a woman is that she has the ability to become a mother. But today, that privilege was being stripped away. The right to raise her son was lost.
When our founder Shelley Jean first went to Haiti with the hopes of adopting a child, she was astounded to find that most children who were in orphanages were not true orphans, but rather sons and daughters of heartbroken mothers. She wondered if given the means to do so they might be able to keep their children. She felt compelled to do something to help.
Shelley’s heart was stirred to action and nine months after her first steps on Haitian soil, she made Haiti her permanent home for the next decade. Her mission was simple. She was motivated to give mother’s in Haiti the opportunity to keep and raise their children with dignity. Shelley started small with a handful of women making handicrafts and selling those items to her friends on Facebook. Today she runs a fair-trade artisan company that employs more than 140 mothers who are empowered with the opportunity of a job. They can now keep their kids, send them to school, feed and clothe them like any mother would want to do.
This International Women’s Day, we honor the pain of the mothers in Haiti and all over the world who have endured separation from their children because of poverty. In Haiti we will never give up the fight to be a voice for women and mothers. It is our mandate and our mission.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the right time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
THANKS SHELLEY JEAN & HAITI
To Shelley and her community we are so excited to work with you and we can't wait to fly out and hug you all!! Until next month when you ALL see the box of Giving back to Haiti! It's a good one! You'll just love what we all created together! They're so talented, and we are happy to help with giving them another platform to share their gifts of empowerment.
GO INSPIRE MORE WOMEN, RISE THEM UP, PICK THEM UP, LOVE THEM, GIV THEM A VOICE, AND FIGHT FOR MORE OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPACT!

That's why when I showed them my inspiration board for designs for the month of March, they were so excited to have get to work and to have the opportunity to work on some product designs for the Giv Box. I have to say, I think I was more excited to have found such a great groups of Artisans because they need so much. When they sent over the prototypes I was so excited because I thought they nailed it!
They developed exactly the look and feel of the design and with a few pattern changes, boom March was born! They sent over images of the samples below and they were simple, easy, wearable bracelets that were all made from recycled paper and painted to perfection now that's on trend for spring for 2019. Basically they nailed it, and man did they have fun doing it! They sent us photos to prove it!! We love our new friends....don't you?
Made with love straight from their hands. Here is a bit of the history on how you buying a Giv Box will help with these amazing opportunities for a better life. Here is some history on these talented young ladies.
The holistic approach aims to tackle the complex obstacles the women encounter. Through our two-pronged approach, we provide income-generating programs and supportive services that focus on emotional health for over 140 women. The hope is by focusing on these two areas of human need, we can provide the opportunity for women to achieve a sustainable form of employment while being more present, caring and effective mothers for their children.
Creamos group we worked with, works hand in hand with Safe Passage to achieve its mission of providing economic, emotional and educational opportunities of the women who live in the community around the Guatemala City Garbage Dump community.
Creamos’ income generating program provides an alternative form of income so women no longer resort to working in the hazardous conditions of the garbage dump. The Artisans earn on average 71% more than they would working in the dump. Creamos offers the different income generating opportunities, and making jewelry luckily for us is one of them! We are so glad we could provide more work to these amazing women. We hope you all can spread the mission to all your friends so we can spread the design production some mote to these lovely women.
Creamos’ emotional support program, Creamos Voces, was created as a means to address the emotional and social challenges women in the community surrounding the garbage dump experience. They believe that women need more than just an income to achieve financial freedom. The program you are helping this month with your Giv Box, they aim to complement our income generating through the following programs:
Financial literacy:A workshop that focuses on savings, budgeting, debt management, bank services and economic abuse. Upon graduation of this program, women are eligible for our matched savings program along with individual financial advisement.
Individual Support:Consists of 12 one-on-one sessions with a trained therapist to address presenting challenges.
Domestic Violence Support Group:A closed confidential group offered to survivors of domestic violence. The group strives to increase knowledge regarding the various factors of violence, enrich women’s perception of safety, and to increase knowledge of access to resources.
Mindfulness and Movement Classes:Daily exercise classes are offered including Zumba, aerobics, pound fit, trauma-sensitive yoga and a soccer match. The goal of these programs is to enhance the self-esteem and sense of social support of our participants.
HOW COOL IS THAT? IMPACT IS REAL!! YOUR BOX IS HELPING THESE VERY IMPORTANT ISSUES IN THEIR LIVES.
I can't wait to meet them....let's keep providing more and more work for them! We can do this! Together we all can change lives....like Sarah who is above with some of your bracelets beads in her hands!
